Know and Recall
The present is a brief moment of time that moves the future into the past. But how accurate is the mind when it comes to remembering a moment? Constantly in a state of change, are we aware of the realities around us or do we simply take our own perception and memory as truth? In these questions lie the motivation for the photographic imagery in this project. This new body of transfered images are shown with "The Sum of Personal Histories", images by Leah M. Gose. -
Momentary Perception
Figures in the images pause, reflect, wait, and watch, unaware that in their seemingly unimportant, mundane activities they are surrounded by a world unseen. The images are produced with a photographic solvent transfer process, which involves transferring images onto Japanese artist paper using a printmaking press and colored pencils. -
Effects
Effects tell us about the things we can’t see yet doesn’t completely prove the existence of a thing. We are left with the impression of what has passed but no solid proof of its existence. It is a spiritual idea where the camera serves as an interpreter that is able to see more than my eye. The light of night reveals a play between dark and light that human vision is unable to fully record. -
Presence and Place
Through the use of a long exposure the camera serves as an interpreter and recorder of an expanse of time. The seemingly ordinary spaces are transformed into a stage for the imagination through the interpretation of light and motion by the camera. The connection between expanses of time and place give way to many thoughts of past experience. This body of work is the beginning of my exploration of these links. -
Books and Objects
These books and objects come from various projects that will eventually continue into a larger series of photographic books. The red couch book is a documentation of family members who throughout the course of a weeks time, came and left the red couch -
Mineral Rights
This commissioned project looks into the surface land of the oil industry. Not only do the images depict the industrial elements in the production of the oil field, but also show the stark land where oil prospectors hope to find natural resources. The Mineral Rights project is an ongoing project and commission for an oil and gas company. Images currently in the project were taken in the desert landscape of West Texas and in the beautiful remote canyon lands if Southern Utah.
